Spanish Point announce new Gold BI Competency

30th of November 2012, Dublin, Ireland – The demand for business intelligence and analytics in the Irish market has steadily increased during the recession as businesses and organisations seek to survive and grow by reducing costs, identifying new opportunities to increase turnover and manage their risks. This mirrors a worldwide trend as demonstrated by the recent Gartner 2012 CIO survey where Business Intelligence (BI) ranked as the highest priority. The survey comprises the views of nearly 250 CIOs in 45 different countries and 37 different industries and highlights the reality that data-driven businesses will clearly out-perform their competition.

“Data is a valuable asset for any organisation. Most people in successful businesses now recognise that they can get valuable insights from the data they already have and with data widely available from sources worldwide, like population or geographic information available from local authorities, governments and the UN. Many in IT might find it surprising but according to the Gartner CIO Survey, Analytics and Business Intelligence tops mobile technologies and Cloud computing as a priority for CIOs”, says John Corley CTO of Spanish Point. Spanish Point has recently completed BI projects for organisations as diverse as Matheson, Hertz Europe and Pobal and is engaged in BI projects in a variety of sectors in Ireland, the UK and North America.

“Our customers are looking for solutions that enable better decision making, leverage their existing investments and have a quick ROI. A common theme across all our BI projects is that our customers’ desire to leverage the benefit of the information in their existing systems, to allow self-service BI and deliver this on a cost effective, yet hugely functional platform. The Business Intelligence tools and technologies built into the Microsoft platform really help us achieve this. Most importantly in our experience, users find Microsoft-based solutions much easier to use than anything else out there”, says Corley.

Recently, the company was awarded the Microsoft Gold Competency in Business Intelligence. “Successfully bridging the gap between business requirements and technology is probably more important with analytics and business intelligence than anything else. Less than 1% of Microsoft Partners have achieved one or more gold competencies. This is Spanish Point’s fourth Gold competency, which is impressive. Once again, Spanish Point has have demonstrated their unrivalled skill and expertise in understanding their customers’ business needs, and meeting those requirements with solutions based on Microsoft technologies. They have proven their expertise and extensive knowledge in the field of BI by reaching and maintaining our highest standards”, says Tibbs Pereira of Microsoft (Pictured).
